What was Vivien Leigh & Clark Gables off-screen relationship like?

They had a mutual respect for each other on set. He taught her backgammon and she taught him Chinese checkers. At the time of filming, Gable was romantically involved with Carol Lombard (they married during the filming of GWTW) and Vivien was head-over-heels for Laurence Olivier so there was no romantic interest between Gable and Vivien. She infact did not enjoy kissing him (due to his false teeth and whiskey breath) and he thought of a tender steak when kissing her.

Did Vivien Leigh accept her 2nd Oscar in person?

Vivien was performing in the two Cleopatras at the time. Greer Garson accepted on her behalf.
